John Swindell, LCSW

Meet John
After graduating from the Mandel school of Applied Social Science (MSASS) in the May of 2005 I have always had the desire to help others. The concept which I wanted to attain was to work closely with patients and make a difference in their lives. I knew it would take time to become a professional who can work with others and help them manage their daily lives all while adapting to personal problems from which they may be going through. I also knew there would be a wide range of social variables which must be implemented as well, such as domestic violence, poverty, drug use, etc. But overall, education and experience have paid off.
There are many characteristics I possess – and all are needed – to work well with patients during difficult times. Most obvious is being a “people person” i.e. easily willing to talk with another individual, yet still willing to hear them well/their thoughts. Another item I’m great about is helping patients resolve conflict without their feelings (such as anger) coming first. This has been important for many of my first-time patients who may have never worked with a therapist before. I have had plenty of patients learn how to resort more to problem-solving first, a concept which again helped to control his/her excessive feelings over gain control. In general, establishing an open and trustworthy relationship with my patients has been a vital first step in creating the foundation for creating the most effective relationship possible to help them reach their goals and succeed in therapy.
Finally, when working with anyone we must believe there is capacity for change. As a professional therapist I have always believed that people can, and do, change by providing the utmost optimism and hope to them – even if they believe there is none. It is also important through the change process to help the client set attainable goals as well. By keeping solid boundaries along with proper empathy when needed, changes can be accomplished to make a difference in one’s life. And in the long run, futuristic goals can then be accomplished that way.
MY CONCEPT
I need evidence. I base all if my practice upon years of study that were based upon community development and the creation, dissemination, evaluation, and integration of evidence-based practices. Servicing society today works only when going about the process(es) which have been proven to be successful with past patients. If we as professionals continue building upon associations with others in learning how to help others, we are going in the right direction.

Many of the people who come to see me are suffering in some way, be it big or small, and are searching for a way to make sense of what is happening to them. I have a decade of experience working with autism and developmental disabilities, couples and families, individuals dealing with trauma, depression, anxiety, and more severe mental health disorders. I am a trained behavior analyst as well as a marriage and family therapist, and this allows me to help my clients in novel ways. Your story is important. Your experience is important. I believe that the work of the therapist is to help you find health and balance both in your life and in your relationships. Meet Macey
If you are feeling stuck in cycles of anxiety, trauma, or emotional pain—especially around your relationships, identity, or past experiences, I want you to know you’re not alone. I specialize in working with individuals navigating the complex and deeply personal challenges of being human, including relationship issues and trauma, self-esteem issues, and the lasting impact of childhood wounds or abuse.
I primarily utilize EMDR therapy to help clients safely process painful experiences, shift stuck patterns, and pursue healing at a deeper level. My approach is warm, collaborative, and rooted in the belief that you already have the strength within you—we just need to help you access it.
Therapy with me often includes honoring the parts of you that feel unseen or misunderstood, rebuilding your sense of self, and empowering you to live more fully and authentically. I believe I was made for this work and am deeply passionate about walking alongside those on their healing journeys.
I remember how terrifying it was to make my own first call to a therapist— I was overwhelmed, anxious, unsure of what to expect. But asking for help changed my life. If you’re feeling the same, I invite you to reach out. Whether we work together or I help connect you to someone who’s the right fit, you deserve support that honors your story.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Chemical Dependency
Counselor who believes healing happens in relationships, especially the relationship we
have with ourselves.
When I am not working with clients, I love spending time with my family and playing with
Burberry, our Golden Doodle, who keeps life joyful and grounded.
My work is rooted in helping people get beneath surface symptoms and into the deeper
patterns driving them. I am especially drawn to schema work and narrative therapy,
helping clients understand the “subconscious tapes” that often play in the background of
their lives. Many of the beliefs and survival strategies that once protected us can, over
time, become barriers to the life we want. Therapy can be a space to gently examine
those patterns, loosen their grip, and begin authoring a different story.
I take a systemic, collaborative approach that de-pathologizes problems rather than
people. I integrate a truly person-centered approach to the therapeutic space blending
narrative therapy and schema work, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed
care to help individuals, couples, and families move toward meaningful, sustainable
change. Clients are not broken—they are often responding in understandable ways to
painful experiences—and that healing begins when we approach those experiences
with curiosity, compassion, and courage.
Across outpatient, telehealth, and institutional settings, I have had the privilege of
working with adolescents through older adults navigating substance use, trauma,
mental health challenges, and family relationship struggles under the supervision of Dr.
Heather Katafiasz. Whether in individual, couples, family, or group work, I enjoy helping
people identify strengths, develop practical goals, and reconnect with values that
support the lives they want to build.
I earned my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral
University, where I was inducted into Delta Kappa, the International Honor Society for
Marriage and Family Therapy. Beyond clinical practice, I have contributed to wellness
programming and facilitated community recovery initiatives, including the My Family
Recovers program for the Cleveland Police Department.
At the heart of my work there is a simple belief: the most important healing we do is
learning how to come back into a kinder, more honest relationship with ourselves.

Linda Holbrook, LPC
Outpatient Clinician

Hello! My name is Linda and I am a licensed professional counselor who works with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, women’s issues, and major life transitions. I received a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from John Carroll University and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice at Bowling Green State University.
I am dedicated to helping people navigate life’s challenges with compassion and understanding. My approach is humanistic and client-centered — I believe healing begins with a genuine, trusting connection where you feel seen, heard, and valued for who you are. In our work together, I utilize evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and EMDR to help you gain insight, build resilience, and create meaningful change.
My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where you can explore your experiences, strengthen your sense of self, and move toward a life that feels more balanced and fulfilling.

Kaycie Churchill, LISW
Outpatient Clinician
Meet Kaycie
I have experience working in several different fields throughout the past five years. I have worked at Stella Maris in the detox unit, where I became very knowledgeable about addiction and how to help those who struggle with it. I have experience in school-based therapy with OhioGuidestone as I spent the school year of 2021-2022 working with children who struggle with anxiety, depression, and behavioral problems. For the past 3 years, I have worked for the National Suicide Hotline, providing ongoing 24/7 emotional support. This job has allowed me to see a plethora of different diagnoses and taught me how to work with several different communities. I have specialized in crisis work and how to meet people where they are in order to provide effective services. While doing crisis work, I also worked in private practice telehealth therapy.
I have discovered that working with children and helping them grow into strong, independent, and caring individuals is part of my purpose, and I cannot wait to work with you! Talking openly with someone about our problems can be really hard. My goal is for you to always feel safe and heard as we dive into places of the mind that you may never have explored. By taking this journey with you, I hope to work together to discover the unhelpful and negative thinking patterns that often lead us to where we are today. It is important to understand where these thoughts are coming from so that we can begin to make the changes we want to see in our lives.
I’m so glad you landed here! Sometimes we don’t know how to ask for help or what that process looks like. I promise to meet you exactly where you are at and help you get to where you want to be. Throughout therapy, I aim to foster a realistic but encouraging environment so that everyone feels heard and understood. I hope to see you soon!

Meet Ashleigh
Hi, I’m Ashleigh Folger, a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) with a passion for helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and reconnect with their strengths. I specialize in working with individuals across all age ranges, focusing on anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and various forms of abuse. I offer a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where healing and growth can happen.
I earned my master’s degree and a trauma-informed certification from Case Western Reserve University, where I developed a strong foundation in evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy working out, spending time with my partner, friends, and family, and hanging out with my cats. These parts of my life keep me grounded and energized, and they continually remind me of the importance of connection and self-care—principles I strive to bring into my work with clients.
Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply seeking personal growth, I’m here to support you with warmth, respect, and genuine care.

I believe that all people deserve a safe, affirming space to share our stories. My approach is grounded in narrative therapy, which focuses on exploring and making meaning of the experiences that shape our lives, including stories of loss, trauma, and resilience. I work collaboratively with clients to help them feel heard, and supported, as well as ensuring they feel empowered in therapy. I know that coming into therapy can be daunting, so I always acknowledge clients’ courage!
I also recognize that our experiences live not only in our minds, but in our bodies. For this reason, I use a trauma-informed, somatic approach. I believe it is important to explore all aspects of ourselves in healing: thoughts, emotions, and our physical selves. Lastly, therapy can be challenging (but also hopefully fun, at times!). For that reason, I actively encourage self-compassion and self-care between sessions. You are worth it!
